Relate NI are offering a Level 5 Diploma in Couples Counselling.
Relate NI’s Level 5 Diploma in Couple’s Counselling is designed to meet the needs of trained counsellors who wish to develop their understanding of working with relationships through theory, skills and personal development. The aims of the course are:
- To provide counselling training, which will lead to safe and effective practice in working with relationships.
- To develop an understanding of counselling theory, counselling skills and Relate NI contextual knowledge when working with relationships.
- To extend personal development in terms of self-awareness, sensitivity and confidence.
- To develop a critical understanding of personal, professional, ethical and legal considerations that may affect practice.
Key Information
Applicants to the Level 5 Diploma must have at least a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling, 100 hours of supervised practice, and/or completed the CPCAB Level 4 Introduction to Relationship Counselling.
The cost of the Level 5 Diploma is £2100 and, in addition, CPCAB registration is £396. As part of the course, you are also required to complete 50 hours of unpaid placement with Relate NI at one of our sites, and you will be assigned a supervisor to support you. Payment plans are available, including lump sum payment, three payments, and monthly payments.
Please note: the first payment for all of these plans is expected on the 1st October 2024.
Training dates will be at the weekend, beginning in the first week of October 2024 and finishing in April 2025.

Applications received after then will not be processed. Interviews will be offered for the end of September 2024. If successful, Access NI and reference checks will take place, and we also require your CPCAB learner numbers if you have completed a previous course with them.
