Relationships Week 2021 will be taking across the UK from 5-11 July, in order to highlight the importance of healthy relationships in our lives and to our wellbeing.
As we emerge from the pandemic, many may have found that their self-esteem or self-confidence has taken a hit. While some are itching to get back out socialising or dating, you may find the idea of seeing friends, family and colleagues daunting after such a long time apart.
These may be new issues or they may have been existing prior to the pandemic, either way it is important to pay attention to how you are treating yourself – after all our relationship with ourselves is the most important one we have!
Learning to love our beautifully imperfect selves can take time, practice and perhaps even some therapy but the positive impact that can have on our relationships and overall wellbeing is huge.
That’s why the theme of this year’s #RelationshipsWeek is #LoveYourself – building self-esteem to get by, grow and thrive in relationships and life.
During Relationships Week we’ll be sharing lots of helpful tips and videos from our expert counsellors on how to carry out some relationship maintenance. We will cover important topics such as comparing yourself and your relationships to others and how to be kind to yourself and discussing the results of a UK wide poll we are conducting alongside eHarmony looking at dating post pandemic and other relationship issues.
We will also be running a series of ‘Letter’s to my 15 year old self’ where people from all walks of life – from leading voices in the Childrens Sector to a Derry based Drag Queen – will share how they have learned to practice self love so that others can learn from these lessons and put them to use in their own lives and relationships.
We also want to hear from you! Other activities will include a virtual blackboard where you can leave your own messages for others to read about how you are learning to love yourself. You can also share these on social media using the the hashtags #LoveYourself & #RelationshipsWeek.
