Relate NI is a charity with a mission to make expert information and support for healthy relationships available for everyone.

We have been supporting people and their relationships across Northern Ireland for 75 years. We provide counselling services at locations across NI including from Belfast to Foyle, Newry to Coleraine and Ballymena to Omagh – we can also offer our professional counselling services through webcam and telephone.

It doesn’t matter if you’re single, married, living together, separated, younger, older, parenting apart, parenting alone, gay, bisexual, straight or transgender – we’re here to support you!

75 Years Supporting Relationships In NI

Many people turn to relationship counselling when things have already gotten really bad, and while we can provide support at this stage, we are also here whenever you need. Whether we’re working with you as an individuals, your children, you and your partner or with your entire family, Relate NI work through what we call a relational approach. By that, we mean that human beings rely on their family and social relationships in everyday life.

Healthy relationships are a great asset and are essential to our health and wellbeing, as well as that of our families. However, when those relationships are not healthy, it can be a risk factor to our health. Working relationally means being aware of the role that our relationships play in maintaining our health and wellbeing.

Working With You To Achieve Your Goals

Our CEO Duane explains how our couples counselling does not necessarily focus on keeping couples together, it focuses instead on what the couple wants to achieve and can help you achieve a good ending as well as helping you have a better relationship together.

“How Relate NI helps people”

“I found the Relationship MOT an excellent method of focusing on we work as a couple and just as importantly, where we need to work. It was professional, insightful and well worth the time. It has reminded us of how much we have to be proud of in our relationship and why it is so important to occasionally review it with experts.”Service AttendedRelationship MOT
“I would definitely recommend using the Relationship MOT service as a bit of a check in with your partner. I thought how the counsellor was able to steer the conversation was very insightful and nuanced. The MOT reminded us about why we are great together but also the importance of communication and respect.” “Our counsellor provided an outside perspective which immediately helped us to agree that we needed to stop and think with more kindness and empathy for each other especially when stressed or pissed off. We both felt that our counsellor’s excellent and gentle facilitation was quite invigorating. So many positives!”Service AttendedRelationship MOT
